Xbox 360 Factory Reset:

Microsoft traditionally prefer and recommend users to update their consoles whenever a new firmware is released, this is often to prevent users from being victims of exploits in the system.

However, if you have updated and would rather prefer to revert to factory settings, therefore removing the NXE dashboard and reverting back to the inital boot setup you can follow the steps below.

Please make sure there is NO disc in the drive, occasionally discs can prompt for updates to the system, thereby rendering this method, null.

  1. Remove any memory cards and USB drives from the Xbox 360.Power on the Xbox 360.
  2. Go to the Xbox 360 main menu.
  3. Click "My Xbox."Scroll over to "System Settings." Then select "Console Settings."
  4. Scroll down and select "System Info" in the Console Settings menu.
  5. Press the following key combination: "Left Trigger," "Right Trigger," "X," "Y," "Left Bumper," "Right Bumper," "Up," "Left Bumper," "Left Bumper" and "X."

Once restoration is complete, the Xbox will prompt you to select your language and other user options again.

Reverting to default firmware will render your system void of warranty, due to technically breaking the EULA.

Select "Yes, reset settings" on the Reset System Settings page. The console will then restore itself to its default factory firmware (version: 2.0.1888.0)
